Election

Since this is my first writing here I will attempt to keep it short and sweet, and see what kind of reviews I get . Please feel free to leave comments.

It is election season and you have to think about what you are going to do.

The first choice is obvious VOTE. You only have one so you better make it count. Not only is this a privilege it is your duty as a UNITED STATES citizen. Take some ownership and pride in the election process, get involved. Keep this in mind, there are soldiers in harms way, right now fighting to insure that you have something to VOTE for.

The other choice you have is to simply do nothing. Far to many Americans choose not to VOTE. The funny thing is you can tell if a person has voted or not. The do nothing person is the one complaining. If you choose to do nothing you do not have the right to complain. People that do vote, get things done.

I would like to share a story a friend of mine told me a few years back. I was 18 and trying to decide if it was worth the hassle to take the time to vote, let alone who I would vote for. This made it easy to decide.

A very stanch conservative was having a conversation with his eldest daughter who at the time was a junior in college. The daughter was explaining to her father how hard it was to maintain a 4.0 grade average. That she had no social life not even a boyfriend. All of her time was spent studying and working her part time job and cleaning up after her roommate. She started complaining that the government should do more to help people, it needs to be easier.

Dad asks about the room mate.

She only has a 2.0 grade average.
Always at community events school functions (would not miss one).
A different date every night of the week.
Daddy sends her money ( no job).
No time to pick up after her self. ( Busy helping everyone else).

The daughter is very upset with her room mate for her lack of effort, and at the same time concerned she will not graduate. The government should do more to help her room mate.

Dad's answer.
You do not need the government to fix this you can do it your self. Since you have a 4.0 and your room mate only has a 2.0, simply GIVE her one of your grade points and it will all be even.

Daughter's response.
I have worked my tail off to achieve that 4.0. Why should I just give ???????????

Dad
End of lesson. Now go VOTE.
